Hannah Bearden (she/her)
Multimedia Artist | Fabricator | Creative Producer
Hannah Bearden is a multidisciplinary artist and creative producer currently based in Portland, Oregon. She holds a BFA in Sculpture from California State University, Chico (2013), and her
practice centers on material exploration, process-driven work, and storytelling across mediums, often guided by a strong sense of humor. Whether subtle or absurd, humor is a through line in her practice, used as both a tool and a lens for making meaning and connection.
Following her formal education, Bearden entered the world of architectural stained glass,
collaborating with artists to realize large-scale, site-specific installations. This experience
brought her to Portland, where she worked with the renowned Bullseye Glass Company. Her
curiosity and evolving creative interests later led her to study animation and filmmaking at
Portland Community College and the Northwest Film Center, where she had the opportunity to learn directly from stop-motion pioneer Will Vinton.
Over the past several years, Bearden has worked extensively in the animation and film
industries, wearing many hats including fabricator, scenic painter (IATSE Local 488), production
coordinator, and producer. Her wide-ranging technical skills include set construction, puppet and prop fabrication, scenic painting, and experimental approaches to materials and storytelling.
In addition to her studio and production work, Bearden is a passionate advocate for accessibility in the arts. She was a co-founder of True North Studios (2018-2023), a community-centered maker space focused on screen printing and woodworking. Her commitment to continued growth and collaboration has also led her to participate in numerous national and international artist residencies, workshops, and grant-supported programs.
As of early 2025, Bearden is the co-owner of Join Our Cult LLC, a creative brand dedicated to
inspiring artistic exploration and fostering a culture of creating. When not leading collaborative
projects or supporting fellow creatives, she can be found in her home studio, where
experimentation reigns and unconventional ideas are always welcome.
